Engagement with communities and organizations across the region enables us to carry out university-wide commitments to create a brighter future for northern Illinois.
Engaged Education: We recognize the northern Illinois need for life-long learning opportunities and deliver academic programs and professional development at convenient locations across the region. More than 7000 students each year take advantage of this opportunity.
Engaged Research: NIU Outreach plays a leadership role in stimulating economic growth in Illinois. By applying new research in manufacturing, technology, healthcare and agriculture, the university both contributes to and shares in the ultimate success of northern Illinois.
Engaged Service: NIU Outreach staff and university faculty leverage their professional expertise as they advise new business owners, conduct strategic planning with local governments and association groups and partner with local school districts to improve students' academic performance.
