Division of Administration and University Outreach

The Division of Administration and University Outreach serves NIU both on campus and through our entrepreneurial reach into the communities around us. The unique combination of expertise in this division enables us to assess educational, technological, and communications needs and develop initiatives to meet them. We lead activities and projects aimed at northern Illinois economic, social and cultural development and present NIU to the world through state-of-the-art communications and public relations activities.

The Division connects NIU to its region in three major ways:

  • Technology
  • Engagement
  • Communications

Our partnerships with area organizations give us a deeper understanding of northern Illinois’ needs. Our engagement with the community through these organizations helps us pinpoint regional educational needs, potential applications for university research, and critical locations for advanced telecommunications.

As NIU’s most entrepreneurial division, Administration and University Outreach supplies more  than 70% of its budget through services, contracts, grants, and sales.
