Are you ready to advance your career with the prestigious CIA® designation?

NIU Outreach and College of Business, in cooperation with the Chicago Chapter of the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA®) offers a live comprehensive review course designed for candidates planning to the take the Certified Internal Auditor® Exam.

Exam Registration must be completed independently with the IIA by September 30. Visit www.theiia.org to register and for exam details.

Dates and Locations

All courses will be weekend sessions at NIU Naperville, 1120 E. Diehl Road, Naperville, IL. Classes will meet 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily.

Cancellation/Transfer Policy: Cancellations at least 21 days prior to class start - Refund less $50 processing fee; 8-20 days - $100 processing fee; Within 7 days of class start - No Refund.

Transfer Policy:
Transfer to subsequent program - At least 15 days prior to class start $50; 1-14 days $100 transfer fee.

David H. Sinason, Ph.D., C.P.A., C.I.A., C.F.E., C.F.S.A.
Dave Sinason, Associate Professor of Accountancy at NIU, teaches auditing and assurance services and directs the Internal Audit program. He has certifications as a Certified Public Accountant, Certified Internal Auditor, Certified Financial Services Auditor, and a Certified Fraud Examiner. Dr. Sinason is a Board member of the Chicago Chapter of IIA.

Madan Annavarjula, Ph.D.
Madan Annavarjula, Associate Professor of Management at NIU, teaches multinational management at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Professor Annavarjula has taught courses on international business in several European countries as well.

Natalie Churyk, Ph.D., C.P.A.
Natalie Churyk, Assistant Professor of Accountancy at NIU, has been a CPA since 1995 and teaches in NIU’s CPA Review. She teaches financial accounting, and her current research focuses on mergers and acquisitions and financial reporting.

Connie Fuller, Ph.D., S.P.H.R.
Connie Fuller is the Sr. OD Consultant at International Truck and Engine in Warrenville, IL, and an Adjunct Professor in the Management Department of the NIU College of Business. She has over 20 years of experience as a human resource professional in the private sector. Dr. Fuller is certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR).

Tamara Phelan
Tamara Phelan joined the Department of Accountancy faculty in 2002 as an instructor of Managerial Accounting, Accounting Information Systems and Financial Accounting. Prior to coming to NIU, she was a Partner in the Management Consulting Practice at Ernst & Young. Mrs. Phelan is certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) by the American Production and Inventory Control Society) (APICS). She has a B.S. in Business Administration from Valparaiso University and a Master's in Management (MM) from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern Univsersity.

CIA® Exam Eligibility

Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent from an accredited college-level institution. Full-time undergraduate students in their senior year may sit for the exam. Professionals holding qualified certifications may receive professional recognition credit for Part IV of the CIA® exam. Educators may be eligible to have the exam fees waived.

About the CIA® Exam
The internal audit function is an effective assurance and consulting function designed to evaluate and improve effective risk management, control and governance processes. Internal auditors have obtained prominent status in most corporations and CPA firms. In addition, internal audit has proved to be an effective training ground for potential managers.
