Adult students have local access to bachelor’s degree programs through partnerships NIU established with community colleges in the northern Illinois region. Our partnerships make earning bachelor’s degrees affordable and convenient.
Over 40% of our students begin their education at other institutions—usually community colleges—before transferring to NIU to complete their bachelor’s degrees. Now, thanks to the community college partnership program, many students can start and finish bachelor’s degrees at or near their local community colleges.

NIU also offers a specialized Industrial Management and Technology degree at our three Outreach Centers in Hoffman Estates, Naperville, and Rockford in partnership with nine Illinois community colleges.
