Basic Rider Course - Eligibility
Any Illinois resident 16 or older with a valid motor vehicle operator's license or learner's permit may apply.
Persons under 18 years of age need written parental consent. Minors requiring parental consent will be given a waiver form at the first session of the course (Friday night) to take home for a parental/guardian signature. The parental/guardian signed waiver form must be returned to the instructor(s) at the second session of the course (Saturday morning), preferrably before the start of the session. If the parental/guardian signed waiver is not received by the instructor(s) before the start of motorcycle riding in the second session of the course, the student in question will be dismissed from the course. There will be no refund of the course registration deposit in such cases.
Experienced Rider Course (ERC) students need a motorcycle classification on their driver's license and proof of insurance. BRC students do not need a cycle classification on their driver's license.
The ability to balance and ride a bicycle is expected.
